Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about concrete.
How to Calculate
Enter your project dimensions (length, width, thickness) and shape (slab, footing, column, etc.). The calculator converts measurements to cubic yards—the standard unit for ordering concrete. It also shows how many bags you'd need as an alternative and estimates cost. The formula accounts for waste allowance to ensure you order enough material. Most projects use **Volume = Length × Width × Height** for rectangular shapes, with adjustments for circular or complex forms.
Formula & Method
**Slab/Footing:** Volume (ft³) = Length × Width × Thickness. **Cylinder/Column:** Volume (ft³) = π × Radius² × Height. **Cubic Yards** = Volume (ft³) ÷ 27. **Bags Needed** = Volume (ft³) ÷ Bag Yield (0.6 ft³ for 80-lb, 0.45 ft³ for 60-lb). Add 5-10% waste allowance to final volume.
